ABOUT
Charmaine Simpson is a Personal Finance Coach and Financial Educator dedicated to helping individuals, families, and young people build confidence with money, develop healthy financial habits, and achieve long-term financial wellbeing.
With a First-Class degree in Economics, Charmaine began her professional career working across central and local government, higher education, and the heritage sector. These experiences shaped her ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and accessibly — a skill that sits at the heart of her approach to financial education.
Charmaine also holds an MA (Merit) in Global Black Studies, Decolonialisation and Social Justice from the University of West London, graduating in November 2022. She was part of the first cohort of students to complete this pioneering programme. This academic grounding informs her culturally relevant, socially conscious approach to financial literacy and underpins her commitment to equity, empowerment, and community-led education.
For over 13 years, Charmaine has been a passionate community champion for Financial Literacy, delivering workshops, coaching sessions, and public speaking engagements designed to demystify money and empower people to take control of their finances. Inspired by her own upbringing and by witnessing financial challenges within her family and community, she is driven by a personal mission to help people understand the foundations of personal finance, overcome money challenges, and begin building generational wealth.
An experienced Youth Worker, Charmaine is especially committed to introducing financial education at an early age. She is the creator of Black Gold: A Financial Literacy Programme for Young People, a five-week programme that uniquely combines Black History and financial education, enabling young people to build financial skills while deepening their understanding of history, identity, and opportunity.
Alongside her coaching and education work, Charmaine draws on her lived experience of managing a household and running multiple businesses, including Black History Studies and Black History Study Tours, to develop practical tools that help individuals organise, analyse, and improve their finances in real and meaningful ways.
Born and raised in London, Charmaine is a keen researcher of history, a lover of African print fashion, a devoted wife of 18 years, and a proud mother of three daughters.
